Puly Cleaner and Descaler is suited to single boiler home espresso machines especially machines that cannot be backflushed. For backflushing espresso brewing groups we recommend Puly CAFF.
How to clean your espresso machine
1) Dissolve the contents of one sachet into 1 litre of warm water and stir well. (Helpful hint: using warm water can help the solution to dissolve) Pour the cleaning solution into the water reservoir of your espresso machine. Attach the portafilter (handle) and place an empty container to collect the spend cleaning solution.
2) Turn the machine on and operate the pump as you would normally do to extract an espresso until approximately half of the cleaning solution has been absorbed into the boiler. Now let the espresso machine come up to operating temperature.
3) Let the machine sit for approximately 30 minutes to allow the descaler to dissolve the scale.
4) Open the steam valve and allow approximately 100ml of solution to flow through the steam nozzle. Close the steam valve. Activate the coffee button as you would normally do to extract an espresso. Allow the remaining volume of cleaning solution to pass through the machine until the reservoir is empty, then switch off the coffee button.
5) Remove the water reservoir, rinse it clean, and refill with fresh water.
6) Operate the pump as you would normally do to extract an espresso until approximately half tank has been emptied. (you may need to do this in a few stages to prevent overheating the pump).
7) Open the steam valve and allow approximately 100ml of fresh water to flow through the steam nozzle. Close the steam valve. Activate the coffee button as you would normally do to extract an espresso. Allow the remaining volume of fresh water to pass through the machine until the reservoir is empty, then switch off the coffee button.
8) Discard the used solution/water.
